Why I Write
Because everywhere I look, I see a story.
Because I don’t know how I feel, or what I think, until I process my emotions through words.
Because of the remarkable grace flooding my unremarkable life.
Because my favorite place to meet God is on a blank page.
Because putting pen to paper is how I send love letters to the world.
Because I need to forgive.
Because, even more, I need to be forgiven.
Because stories bring us together, and I hate feeling alone.
Because words swirl in my head all day like a school of fish, searching for meaning.
Because my daughter said something hilarious at the dinner table and I want to remember it twenty years from now.
Because the sunset took my breath away.
Because my heart is still beating.
Because I’m alive.
Because I don’t want to forget one drop of this bewildering, heartbreaking, wonderful life.
